Long Term Goals : 2020-2030

I was pondering about the vision that I want to have for my professional career and what things should I be chasing or rather what things excite me to go the extra mile. Also I have realized from past 4-5 years I am a wanderer and not having any specific goal for myself. (Of course i had short term goals which i m grateful to have accomplished, but not a long term - a Decade goal for myself). As Bill Gates is claimed to have said " Often People Overestimate what they can achieve in the short term and Underestimate what they can achieve in the Long term" .

While this though of having a career decadal goal kept on pestering me from a long time, At a stroke of a moment of insight, it struck me what I am really interested in. I immediately put down those thoughts in an excel sheet before I loose the momentum.

Disclaimer : By no means this list is complete/refined. More edits may follow as i go along, But its important to know what did i set about to achieve. And hopefully this will help me calibrate my career.

2. Myth about high (Salary) earners not getting high merit raises. I came across one of my childhood (& current) distant relative's earnings who I respect and admire a lot. It struct me that this person having a salary of 71Lakh in 2014-15 had a salary of 93 Lakh in 2015-16 and as of last year 2023 his earnings were 1.8Lakh (excluding profit sharing, Stocks, perks, travell allowances etc.,). Now if i compound between 2016-2023 he grew at an CAGR of 13%. This to me is an eye opener and is disproving my belief that high earners may get a static salary or a marginal raise. Any way I m sure this person must have worked hard and created a lot of value for the company and i know for sure, this company has grown from a small startup into a mid-cap company.
